Please review the following important instructions and requirements for the solicitation of LTC products in select States
Important Licensing Note: Several states do mandate that an agent take a special course(s) to be permitted
to market/sell long-term care products in that state. Please reference the below requirements:
California: All licensed producers must complete 8 hours annually for the first 4 years licensed and biannually thereafter to sell Long term Care. To sell the Partnership, producers need an additional 8 hours of Partnership CE training biannually.
Colorado: Effective 1/1/09, Colorado requires that all licensed resident producers must take a one-time 16-hour training course consisting of 8-hours of general LTC training; and 8-hours of training specific to LTC Partnership in a classroom setting. They are also requiring ongoing training of no less than 5 hours every 24 months.
Connecticut: All agents must complete a one-time 7-hour LTC program to market/sell the CT Partnership.
Florida: All licensed producers must complete 8 CE hours to sell Long Term Care.
Idaho: All licensed producers selling LTC insurance complete an initial 8-hour NAIC Partnership training course (followed by a 4-hour refresher course every 2 years).
Illinois: All agents must complete a 6-hour course, and receive certificate of completion.
Indiana: Indiana agents only must take an 8-hour course to market any LTC in this state.
Indiana agents must also complete an additional 8-hour course to market IN Partnership.
Maine: All licensed producers must complete the initial 8-hour NAIC Partnership training (followed by a 4-hour refresher course every 2 years).
Maryland: Maryland agents only must take a 2-hour course to market LTC in this state.
Michigan: All licensed producers selling LTC must provide evidence that they have completed training on subjects relating to LTC insurance and long term care. This training can be administered by carriers, or an 8-hour NAIC Partnership Training course from any state will suffice.
Minnesota: Minnesota requires that all resident producers selling LTC insurance complete an initial 8-hour NAIC Partnership Training course (followed by a 4-hour refresher course every 2 years). Minnesota resident producers must take a course that has been filed and approved in the state of Minnesota. Minnesota will not allow resident producers to complete the 8-hour training from another
State.
Montana: Effective 7/1/2008 Montana requires that all resident producers selling LTC insurance complete an initial 8-hour NAIC Partnership training course (followed by a 4-hour refresher course every 2 years).
Nebraska: Effective 8/1/2008, Nebraska requires all producers licensed to sell LTC insurance complete an initial 8-hour NAIC Partnership training course (followed by a 4-hour refresher course every 2 years).
New York: As of April 1, 2005, The NY Partnership mandates that an agent be certified to market/sell a NY Partnership policy. Please visit www.nyspltc.org for more information. If you are certified, please be sure you have faxed a copy of your certificate to 518-371-6131, Attention: Jennifer.
North Carolina: NC agents must obtain a special LTC license. In addition to an L&H license, one must
complete a 10-hour LTC/Medicaid course and pass a state exam to market LTC in NC.
Non-resident agents marketing in NC are exempt but must apply for the LTC license.
North Dakota: Effective 7/1/2008, North Dakota requires all producers licensed to sell LTC insurance complete an initial 8-hour NAIC Partnership training course (followed by a 4-hour refresher course every 2 years).
Oregon: Oregon requires all producers licensed to sell LTC insurance complete an initial 8-hour NAIC Partnership training course (followed by a 4-hour refresher course every 2 years).
Pennsylvania: Agents must complete 1 CE hour to sell Long Term Care
Rhode Island: Rhode Island requires that all producers complete an initial 8-hour NAIC Partnership training course (followed by a 4-hour refresher course every 2 years).
South Dakota: Effective 7/1/2008, South Dakota requires that all producers licensed to sell LTC insurance complete an initial 8-hour NAIC Partnership training course that includes information about South Dakota's Medicaid
Program (followed by a 4-hour refresher course every 2 years).
Virginia: All licensed producers must complete a Virginia-specific 8-hour NAIC Partnership training course (followed by a 4-hour refresher course every 2 years). VA requires that the training be filed as Continuing Education.
Washington: All agents must complete a 6-hour course, and receive certificate of completion
Instructions to Run a Quote:
After you click the "Run LTC Quotes" button below, you'll be brought to the Agent screen - fill in all your information, hit Next and you'll be brought to the Client screen - fill in your prospects information. You'll then be able to select either the Policy tab or the Search tab. The policy tab will allow you to, one by one, select the carriers that you'd like in your side by side comparison. This process takes a little bit of time but will allow you to show only your favorite products. Or, you can choose the Search tab. Search will automatically provide you with a comprehensive list of EVERY ltc plan that NYLTCB offers. This feature is great because it will very quickly give you fast premiums to learn who is most competitive. Then, you can print whichever method you wish.
