Kevin Johnson Kevin Johnson, CLTC, LTCP

Kevin has been in the Insurance and Financial Services business since 1974 with a focus on Long-Term Care insurance starting in 1988. He was co-founder of NLTCB in 1991. Kevin has been a featured speaker at many LTC insurance industry meetings and conferences and he has served on many LTC Advisory boards of major insurance companies. Kevin has published many LTC articles for financial and insurance industry magazines. Kevin also serves on the advisory board for the American Association for LTC insurance as well as the Double H Hole-in-the-Woods Ranch, a retreat ranch which provides recreational and emotional support for children with critical illnesses. Kevin has been president and CEO of National Long-Term Care Brokers since its founding in 1991.

Peter Kelly Peter J. Kelly, CLTC

Pete assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer at NLTCB in 1999, where he became responsible for managing the new business operation and brokerage support for long term care and life insurance. Prior to this role, he was Vice President of Life Brokerage at NLTCB where he helped support Life Insurance sales for the firm.

Since 1997, Pete has continuously increased NLTCB's expertise in underwriting long term care insurance and has developed a proprietary underwriting database with the ability to guide our agents and clients to the most appropriate insurer. Pete also serves as Chief Brokerage Underwriter for the firm for LTC and Life Insurance products.

Prior to joining NLTCB, Pete was in the health insurance field since 1983, and entered the Life and Disability fields in 1990 where he specialized in insurance and benefit planning for small business. Pete holds his B.A. from Syracuse University, and has also completed numerous courses in a Masters Program in Health Systems Administration. Pete has been with NLTCB since 1996.

Gary Clair Gary Clair
Vice-President, Life Brokerage
Gary has been in the insurance business for over twenty six years, with experience in life, disability, annuity, and group products. Gary has been active in NAIFA for over twenty years, serving as Naifa-Capital District President, and current National Committeman and he also managed a disability brokerage office servicing Eastern New York for ten years. Prior to joining NLTCB, Gary was the regional vice-president for a New York insurance company with supervisory responsibilities for NY agencies. Gary has been with NLTCB since 1998.
Robert Vandy Bob Vandy, CLTC, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF
Vice President, Marketing

Bob has been in the financial services business since 1990 both in the field as an agent and in home office training & support and management capacities. After working with the firm in the early 1990's, Bob re-joined NLTCB February 2003. His role is to help grow the network of NLTCB affiliated producers and help build key strategic alliances, while acting as the main contact for several of those alliances. Additionally, Bob provides support to our network of producers in developing sales in the business, pension, retirement and estate planning areas. Bob is a member (and past Director) of the Capital District Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors, member and Past President of the Eastern NY Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals.

Brian Johnson Brian M. Johnson, MBA, CLTC
Director of Business Development

On a regular and consistent basis, Brian coordinates with our network of brokers, banks, credit unions, attorneys and CPA's to allow their clients to achieve a full integration of the core disciplines involved in effective estate and business planning. In addition, Brian manages affinity insurance discount programs for 13 professional associations and labor unions. Brian is one of the agency's lead traniners, in a class rooom setting and in the field with our affiliated producers. He is also a co-host of the weekly radio show, "Life Happens, Are Your Prepared?" on AM810 WGY in the Albany, NY market. Brian is a frequent speaker on Long-Term Care planning and is regularly quoted in industry trade magazines.

Brian received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Master of Business Administration in Finance from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT. He is Vice President of the board for Shenendehowa Dollars for Scholars, a local chapter of Scholarship America. Brian resides in Saratoga Springs, NY. He is a fan of horse racing and is an avid skiier and golfer.

David Michalski David Michalski, CLU

Dave has been in the financial services industry since 1976, having worked as an Accountant, Collections and Credit Manager since then. Dave became a Licensed Agent with The Prudential, a major career company in 1984. He received his CLU designation in 1989. He is a sales manager for the firm assisting agents with Linked Benefit product quotes and support, understanding product features, and marketing initiatives for Life and Linked Benefits. Dave holds his Bachelor of Science from Siena College, and is also a Notary Public. Dave joined NYLTCB in 2002.

Joe provides assistance to our brokers in the marketing of deferred and equity indexed annuities. He also handles agent service questions, Reg 60 Disclosure completion, and the processing of annuity new business. Joe holds his Bachelors Degree from Colgate University, and joined NLTCB in 2006.

Sam has been in the insurance and financial services industry since 1984 as an individual producer, insurance company and independent wholesaler. Sam brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position of Regional Marketing Director.

Sam is responsible for developing agent / advisor relationships, working directly with the advisor to implement comprehensive insurance solutions for the client. His extensive experience in the areas of long-term care, life insurance, and estate & business planning provides the advisor with comprehensive product, sales and technical support.

Sam lives in Brockport, NY with his wife Gwen and daughter Peri.

Cathy Benjamin Cathy Benjamin
Upstate New York Regional Marketing Director

Cathy started her insurance career in Property and Casualty. In the late 1990's she realized her true passion was Long Term Care insurance and became a captive agent with MedAmerica. After a couple of years there, she joined a life and health brokerage in western NY as their LTC Specialist. During this time she also served for 5 years on the board for the Rochester chapter of NAIFA as their Public Relations Chairperson. Following that experience Cathy joined the board of the Rochester chapter of the FPA and continues there as their secretary.

In late 2015 Cathy moved to her new home, NY/National Long Term Care Brokers. She remains in the Rochester area, working with agents in Central and Western NY, including the Southern tier, helping agents design and place various insurance products for their clients. When Cathy is not working with agents and their clients, she enjoys spending time with her parents, daughter and dog, Daisy.

Melissa oversees marketing of long-term care products to independent brokers throughout the country. She has been with NLTCB since 1996. Melissa provides brokers with policy information, comparisons, and competitive information to assist the broker with the LTC sale. Melissa conducts presentation on LTC insurance at broker forums and other producer oriented gatherings. Melissa also helps prospective agents and brokers understand the the benefits, and value added advantages, of choosing NLTCB as their LTC brokerage.

Matt began his career in the Life and LTC business in 2002. He has previously worked in the print and news media business. Matt holds a B.A. in English Literature from the State University of NY at Plattsburgh. Matt joined NLTCB in 2005.

Don Baurle Don Baurle

Don has been in the insurance and financial services industry since 2012. He was a benefits consultant with Aflac, then moved into banking as a Personal Banker with KeyBank. Prior to that, Don served in a variety of capacities including Draftsman/Mechanical Designer, Production Supervisor, and Safety Coordinator.

In his role with National/NY LTC Brokers, Don is responsible for consulting with business owners and decision makers to help find voluntary, supplemental benefits solutions for the employees of any business.

Don lives in the Town of Halfmoon with his Wife Sue, and Step-daughter Kaeli.

Fun Fact: Don is an avid Baseball and Boston Red Sox fan. On his bucket list is to go on a month long trip starting at Fenway Park, then to Yankee Stadium, followed by Wrigley Field, and finishing at Busch Stadium, and spend time in each of the cities as well.

Rich brings over 24 years of property and casualty insurance experience, selling his Property and Casualty Agency in 1997. He started his own multi-media business in 1998 producing individual video productions and commercial marketing productions for businesses and non-profit organizations across the US and Canada. Rich joined NYLTCB in October 2007 and assists our Agents and prospective Agents and Brokers in establishing their proper contracts and appointments to do business with our various insurers. Rich enjoys spending his free time with his lovely wife Cindy and daughter Jessica.

Jeannie assists brokers with marketing support for developing marketing and sales opportunities for LTC to groups and associations. Jeannie joined NLTCB in 1999 and then relocated briefly to North Carolina and rejoined NLTCB in 2009.

Janelle supports our agents with new business and underwriting service support for our Binghamton office. Janelle started with Dan Ross Associates in 1999. She worked closely with the Dan Ross Associates agents in all aspects of life insurance case design, underwriting and client services. Janelle assists NLTCB with broker development in the Southern Tier region of New York. As well as broker develpment Janelle also provides life insurance sales and underwriting support for the agents in her region.

Lauren joined New York Long Term Care Brokers in 2013. She is new in the world of insurance! She is handling a range of administrative support services for the firm. Lauren has a background in media production, and has served in such companies as Fox 23 News, CNN Atlanta, The Capital Region Bowling Show, and more! She is honored and pleased to be working with such amazing people, and looks forward to a long future at NYLTCB!

Fun Facts : Lauren LOVES Israeli dancing, and loves history : with her favorite areas of study being Tudor era England, and the Titanic!!!

Tara has been in the insurance/financial services industry since 2004. Her experience working with several individual producers as a Financial Rep Assistant led her into the unique world of brokerage several years later. She then joined NYLTCB in July 2015 working as part of the Life/DI case management team.

She currently resides in Scotia, NY with her son and three furbabies.

Laurie Mattison Laurie Mattison
Communications Coordinator

Laurie joined NYLTCB in May of 2015 and provides support to Brian Johnson in his practice and marketing campaigns to professional associations and labor unions. Laurie started in the insurance and financial services industry in 2004 in a supportive and practice management role.

Laurie is a graduate of Siena College, in Loudonville, New York with Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Management. She and her husband, Ryan, live in Ballston Lake, New York with their three rescued cats.

Fun Fact: Laurie loves fashion and even studied fashion merchandising before transferring to Siena College!

I recently joined New York Long Term Care Brokers this year 2015. I am new to the world of insurance. I handle a variety of administrative support services for the firm including Long Term Care New Business support services. I have a restaurant background as I have been a bartender and waitress for over 10 years. I am pleased to have found such a great company to work for with great employees and look forward to a successful future at NYLTCB.
